New Granville necklace in labdorite for fall is now in the shop

I'm loving this thermoplastic Bouquet by Joanne Carson at Brooklyn Museum.

Varet necklace now in the shop. I have been naming each piece of jewelry after streets in Raleigh but after three years I was running low. Now I'm naming them after streets and Brooklyn and its like a whole new realm of possibility.

Today is my first day of classes- wish me luck. It feels sort of weird to be in school again. Design school in NC started with a million cookouts (entire pigs roasted on grills the size of cars) and fashion school in New York started with lectures on eating disorders so this should be interesting.

A few days ago I found these great vintage chandelier prisms in a junk shop in Chelsea. I loved the addition of darker chain so much that I made a few Anderson necklaces with it too. Pearls and dark chain are just waiting for sweaters and layered knits. *Shop updates tomorrow*

New Granville Necklaces

New Granville necklaces similar to this one will be in the shop tomorrow. I'll also be posting a few shots from my new hood in Park Slope (home of a thousand strollers), if I can ever find my card reader. All (most) of my belongings successfully fit into 90 sq ft but finding them is still a challenge. The moving sale will continue for another week to clear out some space in my new studio (tiny nook). Hope everyone is having a lovely week. Summer seems to be fading fast.

Moving Sale

While packing up my worldy possession I came across a slew of pieces that had been in hiding. In an effort to fit said worldy possessions into 90ish square feet everything is posted in my shop and all prices have been reduced. Some of these items I thought we long ago sold out. Shipping is still complimentary in the US so stock up. I'll be posting fewer pieces for a while after the move but things should pick up once I get settled into student life again. Wish me luck!

Loeffler Randall

The new Loeffler Randall ready to wear line sheets are up on their site. It looks like Beanie + Cecil and Vermillion will carry the line in Raleigh. Just like their accessories the look is sculptural but wearable. The color palate is more subdued though, focusing on muted creams and grays (with a hit of plaid and gold lame!). The Bell and Butterfly dresses are standouts and the Fraulein Blouse looks like it could go into heavy rotation this fall.

The past few weeks have been a little crazy. I've been packing, unpacking, repacking. I trekked to New York during last weeks heat wave to hunt for an apartment via dc and Baltimore and trains, buses, subway, foot and cancelled planes. The next few weeks will be more of the same but posting should be more regular once I get settled. Here are some shots from the train, the Baltimore harbor and the Brooklyn Botanical gardens. I just returned from a trip to Savannah. The trees stoop to greet you there.

I loved the ornamentation on the buildings and the care that went into restoring them.

Urban Office

Decor8 has an slideshow of the Urban Outfitters Corporate Campus in Philadelphia posted on her blog. Previously abandoned buildings in the Navy Yard have been reborn as a work space that could only foster creativity. Those windows alone would be enough for me. Having watched local (albeit much smaller rehabilitation projects i can only imagine what a large undertaking it was. But how can a creative company be creative in an office park? I know I've been a bad blogger lately. Its just been so pretty outside. When not 9-5ing it I'm outside in the 80 degree weather. I know that laptops were made for just this very reason but indulge me. I have been very busy. I think I have it out of my system and have a bunch of studio updates coming this week.
